Wow! Only a week to go until our 2018 34th and 469th Korat reunion kicks off on May 7th! The reunion planners, Dave Vogl, John Carr, and Chet Martindale are really looking forward to seeing everybody at Ft Walton Beach and the Breakers. Here are a couple of things to remember for the reunion. If you're flying into the Northwest Florida Airport (VPS) and don't want to rent a car or use a taxi or Uber, give one of the reunion planners a call and we'll get you some transportation. It's only 10 miles from the airport to the Breakers. The other airports, Panama City and Pensacola, are approximately 50 miles away. We have tried to keep costs down so the reunion registration will only be $40 per person, payable only by check or cash. We don't have the capability to process cards. There will be a one-time $10 bar fee if you want to drink liquor or beer but everything else - soft drinks, water, and snacks - in the hospitality suite is included in your reunion cost. Registration will start at 1630 in the West Lobby of the Breakers. See the map of the property to find out where that is. We'll be collecting money and giving out name tags then. We will also have handouts for the schedule of events, places to eat or visit, and signup sheets for the Tuesday USAF Armament Museum visit and Wednesday dinner. The opening ceremony with a light buffet will be at 1900 in the Breakers Association Room. If you arrive early at the Breakers, just relax and enjoy the white sand beach! If you have photos, mission cards, bush hats, or anything else that brings back memories of Korat, please bring them so everybody can share the memory. If you have converted those old photos to digital, put them on a flash drive and we'll show them on the TV monitor. This reunion is all about getting together again and sharing memories of friends and events of 46 years ago. We listened to the remarks from the last reunion and have designed the 2018 reunion to be a laid back, casual affair with lots of free time. We have a few scheduled events but we think you'll really want to attend every one of those. You'll have to attend the opening ceremony to find out all about them. We can't wait to see everybody next week! Chet678-468-8475Dave 401-816-0237John 202-262-3335

It's getting close! Yes, the 2018 469/34 Korat reunion is less than a month away. We have over 40 people signed up now but it's not too late to get lodging at the Breakers of FWB and join us. We're still working on the agenda and working on some really interesting events for everybody but for now, let's just talk about Monday night. The reunion will kick off in the Breakers Association Room at 1800 with registration, picking up your name tags, and collecting money. We're trying to keep our reunion costs down so we're only charging $40 a person. Bar privileges for those who wish to partake will be a one time charge of $10 for the entire three days. Please bring cash or checks as we have no way of processing card charges.
After a light buffet, a short (I promise!) welcoming speech will detail the next two days events. The Bar will be open and socializing will continue until 2200 or until everybody leaves. Your reunion team has been working hard and is looking forward to seeing everybody again and reliving 1972 again! Also, please go back to the website to add your wife’s name https://goo.gl/hFdi8i so we can make name tags.
Bring any photos or items you wish to share with us. Whatever you want to bring will be fine.
The dress for the reunion is beach casual.
Read previous information below.

In case you've forgotten, we're having this reunion in Ft Walton Beach, FL (that's Eglin AFB territory). The Breakers of FWB https://www.breakersfwb.com/ will be the official meeting and greeting spot for the reunion. A reunion reduced rate for the rooms is available with room choices from one bedroom to three bedroom units, all facing the Gulf of Mexico and the white sand beaches. Just mention Korat, 469, or reunion to get 15% off your room rate. You must make your own reservations. Getting there is easy. There are several airports that serve the area. NW Florida Regional is the closest, only 10 miles away, but Pensacola and Panama City are only 45 miles if your airline doesn't serve FWB. We're planning on having transportation from the airport if you fly in. Rental cars are available at all of the airports if you want to explore the local area. Please go on our website ( 34469rg.weebly.com/attending.html) and let us know if you will be coming. The reunion will only last three days and will kick off on Monday evening with registration and a welcome reception at the Breakers Association room followed by socializing and probably a few war stories as everybody catches up with old friends. The next day will be a visit to the AF Armament Museum where we can check out all the weapons and the airplanes, then the afternoon is open for you to choose between several local attractions (or just rest). An evening meal at a Thai restaurant will complete the day's activities but the hospitality suite will be open later for casual talks and maybe a guest speaker. Wednesday is still in the planning stages but there will be plenty of time to enjoy the beach or make your own plans. Your welcome package will include lots of ideas and discount coupons for the FWB area.
Leave your coat and tie at home for this reunion. The reunion committee's goal is to give you a laid back fun experience that you and your kids and even grandkids can really enjoy. Please go on our website (http://34469rg.weebly.com/) and let us know if you will be coming. We're all getting a little older so this may be the last official reunion of the 469th and 34th squadrons. August 2017
All, It is time to start thinking about the possibility of having a reunion for 2018. First Notice! The 2018 34/469 Reunion schedule of events is coming together! Your reunion committee is working hard to make this one not only unique but one of the best. Plans for all the events and places to stay are still tentative but here is what we I can tell you now. The site of the reunion will be Ft Walton Beach, FL (that's Eglin AFB territory) and the date will be May 7th through the 9th, 2018. I know that's eight months away but I'm excited to tell you about it now. This reunion will be different from previous ones in several ways. First, there is no "host" hotel with any reserved rooms. The Breakers of FWB (www.breakersfwb.com) will be the official meeting and greeting spot for the reunion. A reunion reduced rate for the rooms will soon be available with room choices from one bedroom to three bedroom units, all facing the Gulf of Mexico and the white sand beaches. Several other condos and hotels are close by and may also offer reduced rates. More information on available discounts will follow soon but the thing to remember is that you must make your own reservations. Getting there is easy. There are several airports that serve the area. NW Florida Regional is the closest, only 10 miles away, but Pensacola and Panama City are only 45 miles if your airline doesn't serve FWB. Rental cars are available at all of the airports if you want to explore the local area. The second difference is the schedule of events. The reunion will only last three days but the things you will be able to do will fill those up and more. It will be up to you to choose what you want to do, although a few events like the opening meeting and social should be attended by all. Activities that will be available for sign up will include golf, deep sea fishing, dolphin cruise, a visit to the AF Armament Museum, a base visit to Eglin (F-35s train there), shopping trip, an evening meal at an authentic Thai restaurant, evening casual talks with some very interesting people (more on that to come), and plenty of time to sit on the beach or retell all your war stories to people that will understand them. As you can see, the hard part of this reunion will be choosing what to do every day. In fact, you may want to stay a few days longer to really enjoy the Florida experience. The reunion committee's goal is to give you a laid back fun experience that you and your kids and even grandkids can really enjoy. Not only can we see old friends and reminisce about 1972 but your family can be a part too. The reunion committee is working hard not only to keep costs at a minimum but also to give you an opportunity to re-connect with old friends combined with a great Florida beach vacation. If you have any other ideas, we would love to hear them! Put the dates on your 2018 calendar. You won't want to miss this one! More information on lodging, activities, and guest speakers will be coming soon. Chet
